Final task

Hello everyone! I enjoyed a lot the Edpuzzle activities from the two blogs I had already evaluated " Ana educa y divierte ;) " and " ESL Freak "; both of their tasks are focused on current affairs and cultural issues, which I found quite motivating and interesting for my students. That is the reason why I will now plan an Edpuzzle activity with my groups based on how Easter is celebrated in UK and in the rest of the world. It is a great way to introduce new ideas and start learning about festivities and different traditions. This first video was a complete activity available in Edpuzzle with all the questions already prepared. The following one was made by me. It is about the history of Easter. Hope you like them!

Genially Activity

Some thoughts after using Genially in class: Taking into account this was the first time for me (and my students) using Genially, I must say it was not as user-friendly as we thought it would be at the very beginning, when we had a look at the app; that's why we needed to do an accurate planning in order to define every stage which would be followed not to make many mistakes and get the most out of Genially. The plan consisted on three different sessions before the oral presentation itself. In Stage 1, the group was established and the topic chosen; the activity was developed in 2º Bachillerato (second language) and since it is a small group formed by seven students we only did one group, dividing into sections their work. An idea came to my mind and after a short debate we thought about creating a TV show where everyone had their own part as a presenter (international and national news, sports, weather forecast, society, entertainment, etc.). In Stage 2 and 3, we

Pixton Activity

A reflection after using Pixton in class: Every time I have to do an activity in groups I like them not to be really large, so for me two or three people are enough to develop a task as the one presented above; in fact, Pixton could be a tool to be used independently, but we do not have enough computers to do so and I decided (taking into account the physical organization of the class) to do it by pairs, what worked really well. In order to get the final products you can see attached, I followed a very simple sequence of tasks due to the fact that Pixton is a very easy and intuitive too. Students were eager to start manipulating the program so I could not explain much to them. I asked them to create simple stories and a dialogue with vocabulary and expressions learnt in class. We developed this activity during one session and if they did not have the time to finish it, it was concluded at home and sent to me by email. The specific learning objectives for this activity were: creati

Edpuzzle Activity

My reflection after using Edpuzzle: Although I had not used this program before, I consider that Edpuzzle surprises anyone having a quick look at it. If I chose this video instead of others is due to the fact that the unit we are working at in class right now is related to sports, and the topic of doping in famous footballers, basketball players or cyclists describes some of the situations we can hear about at the moment in any news. Apart from that, this video in particular is easy to understand according to the language level of my students and their interests. All in all, the main learning objectives for the session include a better understanding of specific vocabulary of the topic itself, the use of different verbal tenses, answering to some of the questions proposed and finally a personal opinion based on the content of the activity. Due to the fact that the video didn't last longer than 3 minutes, I decided not to develop a "flipped classroom" in this case;

Timeline Activity

ACTIVITY USING TIMELINE  a) The learning objectives of the activity: Learn to summarize and concentrate on the important information. Bring women’s history to class. Use English language as the vehicle of communication. Use of technologies and new tools as “Timeline”. Work in small cooperative groups. b) The advantages of using TimeToast for this activity:   Students felt curious about the fact of using a new program and found it interesting in order to summarize what they read in a different way. It is a useful tool and easy to get used to it. As we were working with different important women in history, they concentrate on the most significant facts.   c) The steps you followed to set up the activity: First of all a brief presentation of the Women’s Day (I got advantage of celebration of the 8th March) and decide to present some general knowledge about the importance of these women in our past and recent history. Then, I exposed what the activity consisted o

Reading as a way of life

Reading as a way of life I could say, without a doubt,  that I love reading. However, I cannot deny that I do not practice it as much as I would like to. We live immersed in a time where work, families, friends and society itself prevent us from having a relaxed time for our own hobbies (or this is at least my case, living in that super-technological and busy era ). What is beyond clear is that the act of reading should be a ritual, a non-guilty pleasure we are looking forward to enjoying at any time or in any place.  Among those pages, we will find answers, we will lose ourselves and above all, we will dream;  in a few words, it allows us not to feel lonely anymore. When I see and wonder about the images selected for this task, I mainly concentrate on two of them, as they make me think on my own experience. That Kind woman sharing a reading time with the little girl, promoting on her the real love for books ... it's, for me, as if you were  watering a seed wh
